Since the late 90’s I have been providing Employee Assistance Programs to large and small corporations, organizations, and non profits.
Prior to working as a consultant with United Health Care’s program called Optum or Blue Shield/Blue Cross’ program, I used to provide training in all areas. Some of them were in Building Consensus, Conflict Resolution in the Workplace, Anger & Stress Management to name a few.
Employee Assistance Programs became more popular due to the increased high rate of employee turnover and corporations wanting to provide their employees with stress management techniques to prevent illness on the job and the attendant problems that accompany these challenges. Not to mention the high cost due to loss of wages, productivity and company revenue, the increasing problem of addiction to legalized pain medication and/or alcohol along with a host of other addictions such as gambling, sex, or food, companies started to provide 24/7 free phone counseling for not only any physical or mental problems but for financial counseling as well.
So, there you have a concise description of EAP programs in the 21st century and the need for them as well. Trainings have been provided to many different organizations both here and abroad. When I taught in Belize through Rotary International I provided several trainings to non profits and schools. When I consulted in the Bahamas I provided programs in Conflict Resolution to the Bahamian Ministries of Social Work and Education. I also introduced the first mediation training for lawyers to the Bahamian Bar Association and the Conflict Resolution modality for the Addictions Training Institute in Missouri.
As a consultant to both the former Optum and current Balancing Life Issues companies, I provide a one to three hour workshop to any of their companies who have insurance through them. These companies include employees and range from hospitals, banks, private corporations such as those that make metal detectors, and a host of other places in the state of Florida.
What topics can be covered in Employee Assistance Programs?
The topics range from Sexual Harassment in the Workplace to Healthy Eating and Stress Management.
I also serve as a United States Postal Redress Mediator and a trainer for the Anti Defamation League’s World of Difference programs on Racism and Bullying.
I look forward to helping your company with their needs and can tailor a specific program to that aim. Please contact me or call 561-644-3904.
